Dark Souls was originally going to be called Dark Ring, until localisation people pointed out the connotations of such a phrase here in the UK. Well, the ring is back, baby. Dark Souls 3’s final DLC takes us deep into the Ringed City.
For more future hits, check out our list of .
In what could be the last piece of Dark Souls content ever, we’ll be spiralling down into the depths. On the way, we’ll encounter new friends, enemies, and things that make you want to lob your PC at a wall.
The Ringed City promises a challenge, new bosses, enemy types, locations, and even armour sets. Hopefully it sees the series off with a bang.
Update March 24, 2017: just in time for the weekend, the new update is live. Go conquer your friends.
After their announcement last week, the time-bending Riftborn have arrived in Endless Space 2. They bring with them a multiplayer mode, two minor factions and a number of quality of life tweaks.
Turn back time in our list of the .
The Riftborn are a race of extra-dimensional beings, who would've been quite happy to sit in their perfect alternate dimension and leave everyone alone. Unfortunately for all involved, a rift opened, pouring filth from our universe into theirs. Ultimately they did the only thing they could and stepped through the breach to try and sort it out, sheathed in quasi-robotic forms. .
I’m still bitter about, but they're trying to salve the pain by releasing another $5,000 monitor. This time though their UP3218K comes with double the K-count and four times the resolution.
We’re going to guess your current rig would struggle at 8K resolutions, so here’s our pick of the that won’t slow your PC to a crawl.
The is a 32-inch professional-level screen with a native resolution of 7680 x 4320, or 8K. That means it’s got four times the resolution of the current 4K screens on sale today, with over 33 million pixels versions 4K’s 8 million.
Mid-season reinforcements are kind of a big deal for Rainbow Six Siege players. With the game continuing to grow in popularity and complexity, this season’s highlight patch felt like an important one - a haul of fixes to show the community what kind of tack Ubisoft Montreal would be employing to freshen up the game’s meta during its all-important second year. Unfortunately though, this latest patch has missed the mark with the majority of its changes, either buffing already strong Operators or making inconsequential changes to those that need the most work.
New to the game? Check out our guide to the .
The changes are by no means terminal - Rainbow Six Siege is still one of the most compelling multiplayer shooters of the past decade - and the fact that one patch going awry has caused a stir among the community says plenty about the quality of the game itself.
With its latest patch, 1.8.0, Blizzard have officially retired 'Battle.net' branding of their game launcher app.
Many of the have been fired out of the friendly corners of a Battle.net window.
If it hasn't happened already, the next time you start Battle.net, you will seal its fate. A small update is downloaded, and when you restart, 'Blizzard app' will rise from Battle.net's grave. The cool, vaguely atomic logo made of six swirls is also replaced, with Blizzard’s logo skulking cramped in its corner. A little ‘What’s New’ message pops up, saying, with breathtaking nonchalance, “we’ve given the App a small makeover to make you feel more at home in the Blizzard universe.”
Finally, a game that appeals to History buffs, medieval language experts and master swordsmen alike. In case you’ve somehow not heard of it, Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an upcoming RPG set in Bohemia (part of the Czech Republic as we now call it) in 1403. It’s been crowdfunded to the tune of $2.5 million during its five years in development, with over 50,000 backers willing it into existence. All the support seems to have stemmed from a gap in the market for a rigidly historical, highly realistic and open-ended RPG, which is exactly what Warhorse Studios have set out to make with Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
For more choices and unjust NPC slayings, check out the .
Period-accurate clothing, armour and weapons, a story that’s based on the actual political situation that unfolded in Bohemia at that time, and even an array of dialects from the area that the player must navigate in the form of speech checks - Warhorse Studios are pulling out all the stops to ensure their debut title is the truest role-playing experience on PC.
Razer will pay you to play games! In a sense! The peripheral makers with the radioactive branding want you to try Cortex, their free, performance-boosting software, so they’re giving you a little incentive.

You might actually be interested in this anyway: Razer claim it uses a suite of optimisation tools to boost frames-per-second and cut load times. It also has a price comparison engine to help you find the best deals on games and a casting tool for streamers.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is now out worldwide, having launched in the EU overnight. However, developers Bioware are surely disappointed that the most prevalent idea to have formed around their sci-fi RPG, which was five years in the making, is that its animations are rubbish.
How do the animations factor into our judgement of the game? Check out our .
This idea has dominated the conversation around Andromeda so much that a few professional videogame animators have shared their thoughts on why it might've happened.

Dishonored 2 is a great game, but its performance on PC at launch was sadly inconsistent, with a number of players reporting significant technical issues. A third major patch has now been applied to the game, squashing more of those pesky bugs.
If you're the sneaky type in Dishonored 2, why not sneak your way into one of the ? Remember: be furtive.
Almost all of the 33 bullet points in the patch notes begin with the phrase “fixed a bug”. Among the more significant changes, quick save and load is no longer available in Iron Mode, NPCs don’t get to search for you twice after reloading a save, and five different crash issues have been resolved. Also Jindosh won’t make fun of you if he’s dead any more, the smug git.
Update March 23, 2017: The Australian classifications board have reversed their decision to ban upcoming horror game Outlast 2 in the country, instead opting for an R 18+ rating.
The game was previously denied certification due to a specific scene, though it seems it's now being allowed through unmodified.
Related: here are all the .
This comes after the classifications board conducted a review of their original decision.
“Outlast 2 has been rated R18+ by the Classification Branch in Australia and will be released [April 26]," said developers Red Barrels in a statement to . "There will be only one version of Outlast 2 available worldwide.”
Update March 23, 2017: Rocket League's latest update is live, and this one adds a new mode to test those volley skills of yours.
Hopefully you've mastered the art of boosting and controlling your car's thrust mid jump now, because Dropshot wants you to get above the ball and smash it down, like a game of ever-shifting volleyball where you create your own goals.
For more rapidly-rotating wheels, see the .
In addition to the new mode, there's a 'Live Now' button on the main menu, where you can watch official streams right in the game itself. This ties in with the start of Competitive Season 4, which also adds improvements to the spectator camera.
Dauntless is nearing completion, so developers Phoenix Labs are looking for the first round of alpha testers to let loose in the Shattered Isles. If their alpha application is successful, these players will be the first to step into fantasy lands that will shift, expand, and evolve post-release.
Check our list of the for more stuff for nowt.
To nail the balance, the alpha will offer stripped-back gameplay. For example, one day might see you and the other few hundred participants repeating one monster encounter. This is because the team want to balance every aspect of the game, using the alpha process to generate useful feedback.
Only a select bunch of players will be accepted, based on hardware and game tastes. Additionally, anyone taking part will be required to sign an NDA to agree not to take screenshots, stream gameplay, or record video.
