Update April 28, 2017: The Superhot team and ModDB have announced the three top entries in their Make it Superhot design competition. The winner has bagged a $50,000 publishing contract, while the runners-up have scored a smaller cash sum and some gaming hardware.
Superhot's time-bending genius earns it a place on our list of the .
In third place is KamilWdowczyk's , which reimagines Superhot in retro style, transferring its staccato choreography into a top-down perspective. In second is Tero Piipponen's , a Hotline Miami-alike with time manipulation. This one looks like a lot of fun.
It’s been a long time since war dawned on the PC, but the Space Marines are finally ready to deploy. Dawn of War III is drop-podding onto Steam, and we’ve been putting it through its paces to see how a regular ol’ computer handles it. Can the likes of an Intel i5 6500k and a GTX 1060 deal with the epic scale that DoW III promotes? Say a prayer to the Emperor, and then take a look at our analysis below.

Welcome, readers, to the weekend. It’s a magical place, filled with commitment-free hours and opportunity. Generally we encourage you to use any free weekend time to do something PC gaming related, as you may have worked out from the title of our website.
Come back daily for another hit of .
Not sure what to do? Well, we’ve got a few suggestions that’ll help make this weekend the best one ever. Yes, even better than the time when you were falsely targeted for a crime you’d yet to commit, and so replaced your own eyeballs in order to kidnap a precognitive mutant in a desperate attempt to prove that the judicial system was trying to set you up...
There’s a VR experience out now that ties in with Alien: Covenant, that new Ridley Scott film that sees a bunch of colonists land on a strange world. It’s supposed to be a paradise, but it actually has phallic extra-terrestrials on it. You know, the usual.
You can scream as much as you want in our list of the , and people will hear you too.
In Utero will instead have us experience the birth of an alien, in VR. It’ll be like a 3D ultrasound, but with you actually inside someone’s insides. Presumably we’ll see it takes its first breath, too - after ripping through its host’s chest cavity.
Politics, eh? They just can’t keep it out of gaming. Wherever you turn, there’s a dirty politician ready to ruin your day, be they the end-game boss in your shooter or the faction leader of an RTS. But of the very many political leaders out to ruin a protagonists day, who are the very worst? That’s what our video aims to find out.
Don't be the worst. Play the instead.
Being judged for their war crimes today are the likes of Wolfenstein’s Hitler (including exhibits A, his mech suit), Half-Life 2’s turtleneck-wearing Dr. Breen, Civilization’s trigger-happy Gandhi, and a very special guest-star we dare not spoil. To find out exactly what makes them the seven worst-of-the-worst, simply click the play button above.
In December last year, China’s Ministry of Culture unexpectedly decided to make a fundamental change to how gaming’s newest and most popular monetisation method works, globally. On May 1 - just a few days from now - if you sell a loot box, chest, crate, container or other assorted randomised item dispenser in China, the odds of what it can spit out must be public. The question is, what will developers do?
We’ve done some of the maths for both and , but official confirmation would be nice.
In case you’re wondering, ‘not do anything’ simply isn’t an option. Daniel Ahmad, analyst at Niko Partners and expert on the Chinese gaming industry, says that “the companies don’t have a huge amount of choice when it comes to following these regulations.” There’s no way they’ll just be let off, either.
Forget being afraid of the dark, it’s silence you’ve got to be afraid of. Created by The Deep End Games, a studio made up of developers who worked on the original BioShock, their first game Perception is set to launch May 30 on PC.

Tasking players as protagonist Cassie, it’s your job to explore an abandoned estate which has been constantly haunting her dreams. Being blind, Cassie relies on her extraordinary hearing and wits in order to navigate through the mansion. As a result, objects in Perception fade in and out of view based on the ambient sound level. Creating lots of noise will light up the world via echolocation, but it may alert the mysterious ‘Presence’ that dwells within the mansion.
Based on Games Workshop's tabletop classic, Man O' War: Corsair - Warhammer Naval Battles lets you sail the seas plundering enemy ships, visiting ports, and trading spices, wine or whatever else you choose to steal. Dominate everything in your path and watch people flee at the sight of you, or become rich and famous through trades and hunting monsters of the deep.
When it comes to battles on the high sea there are not only cannons at you disposal; you can also control magic-hurling wizards, hire sharpshooters and command Griffons or other flyers for attacks from above. Send Skaven ships to the murky depths, cut Khorne’s champions to pieces and battle sea monsters as you raid, pillage and conquer your way across the sea and land.
Yesterday was all about big money matters for both Intel and Microsoft as they announced their revenue for the year so far. And, despite increased competition, Intel have made even more billions than last year, claiming they’ve barely felt the launch of AMD’s first competitive CPUs in years.
The big question is, what’s the best processor for my rig? Well, it just so happens that our guide to the will tell you just that…
When asked about the impact of the Intel management team reportedly responded saying they hadn’t “seen anything unusual” in terms of their desktop revenue.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive isn’t updated like other esports. While the likes of League of Legends and StarCraft 2 spend weeks testing every small change, CS:GO’s come out of the blue. While Dota 2 will reinvent itself every three months, CS:GO’s changes are so subtle you might not even notice them logging in from day to day. To help facilitate you in noticing this, we’re going to track the latest updates to the game in this post. Each time Valve upgrades the game, we’ll let you know what’s worth worrying about, what isn’t, and provide as full a changelog as able.
If this isn’t enough change for you, try one of the other out there.
The latest Counter-Strike: Global Offensive update was on April 26. Here are the official patch notes from Valve.
Update April 28, 2017: The AMD RX 480 is getting on for a year old now, with a new half generation card appearing, in the shape of the catchily titled , to operate as its direct replacement. So, is there any point in looking at this aging card. Turns out, yes there is.
The old man of the Polaris generation has still got it, topping our list of the to buy right now.
The Radeon RX 480 was the first of the AMD Polaris generation and was built from the ground up for DirectX 12. It was also the first ground-up reworking of their Graphics Core Next (GCN) design in years. Key to AMD’s fresh design was the production shrink of the smallest transistors in their GPUs down to a rather miniscule 14nm lithography.
Hoping to expand on its base feature set, developer Stardock have announced that the Crusade expansion for Galactic Civilizations 3 will launch on May 4. Adding in a custom civilization creator, alongside new starbases and special galactic-level missions, this expansion is set to give players more options in growing their own interstellar empire.
For those looking to expand their influence, check out these .
One of the main draws of this Crusade expansion is the civilization creator, where players can create their own race of alien, right down to the ships they pilot and even their specific diplomatic responses. Once created by the player, these custom civilizations can be shared online for use by any other player in their own game. From little green men to multi-armed monsters who only communicate via space farts, the civilization creator is suitably robust for players wanting to create outlandish alien races.

Pogs. The word tubular. Floppy disks. Acid washed jeans. These are things we all hope had been left buried in the 1990s, never to be seen again.
